In 2014 it was a Cunningham District initiative to commence the Inter-District Ladies Masters Challenge Shield. The four Districts included are: Brisbane District, Downs District, Gateway District and Cunningham. Only masters qualify to play in this highly prestigious event. Since 2014 Cunningham has not won- that is up until today.
At the newly refurbished Enoggera Bowls Club the Cunningham Ladies strutted their stuff and showcased their skills amongst their more fancied rivals. Cunningham won their first two games defeating both Brisbane and previous two time Shield winners Gateway. They went into their last round against 3 time trophy holders and defending champions the Downs District.
Whilst Cunningham took a 42 point ahead margin into the final game it was all but evaporated when the Downs Ladies came out with guns a blazing. The Downs had Cunningham Down by 40 shots overall but a spirited fight back by a squad of Ladies whose attitude is "NEVER GIVE IN" saw that deficit reduced by games end to a mere 18 shots. Cunningham, Brisbane and Downs all had two overall wins for the day - But Cunningham was victorious with a plus 24 point margin. Downs came in second place with 2 wins and a 15 point margin and third was Brisbane.
CONGRATULATIONS CUNNINGHAM LADIES.
