CUNNINGHAM DISTRICT JUNIOR REPORT - APRIL 2015
QLD JUNIOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
We had seven juniors from Cunningham district in the recent QLD Junior State Championships held in Bundaberg.
All the juniors did exceptionally well with four bringing home medals.
It was a very successful State Championships, was well organised, the juniors really enjoyed themselves, as did the parents and spectators.
CUNNINGHAM DISTRICT JUNIOR REPORT - AUGUST 2015
Cunningham 36 def Gateway 18
Cunningham 33 def Downs 30
Cunningham 26 def by Gold Coast 43
Fantastic result by these young Cunningham Juniors. We had some obstacles along the way, being 2 juniors short we borrowed from the Gold Coast, though both these boys had only been playing for a few months. Downs were 3 players short and so we went up against a team of men, and were able to draw with them. We then had a junior pull out sick in the 3rd game and had to replace him with one of the fathers (thank you to Simon Barton). So to finish the day in 2nd position was a great result.
We had 4 Juniors participate in the Under 18 Singles at the Australian Open.
Kobe Barton (Jindalee)
Bryce Litfin (Wellers Hill)
Alex Harman (Algester)
Mitchell Mears (Algester)
Bryce and Alex both won their sections and went on to finish in the top 16
Mitchell won his section and went on to finish in the top 8
Fantastic effort by all these Juniors.
AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2015
We had one representative in the Golden Nugget this year, Mitchell Mears (Algester). However he did not make it through his section, due to some tough interstate competition.

Cunningham District Junior Pairs
We had 4 teams compete, with some amazing bowls been played. Souths Acacia was a great host for the juniors, and it's always good to see them having fun on the green. Big congratulations to the Swiftie boys, backing up their gold medal at states by taking out the district pairs too.
My highlight of the day was when Alex and Mitch (Algester) were behind the head cheering for the opposition Jack Taylor's bowl to sit for shot. With these juniors it's never about winning or losing it's about encouraging each other and helping the younger ones to achieve.
CDBA Junior bowler, Mitchell Mears from Algester, reached the Semi-Final of this prestigious event where he was defeated by the eventual winner, Jordon Yates from Victoria. In the play-off for third position, Mitchell defeated Dale McWhinney, 21 - 15.
Congratulations to Mitchell for his fine performance over the two days (30/31 July)
