Winners of Club Championships progress to District Champion of Club Champions, then to Zone and State

Champion of Club Champions Singles:

Eight club singles champions provided the spectators with a multitude of consistent draw bowls in their efforts to become the District Champion of Champions singles player. All scores in the first round were close. In the semi between Lesley Behnke and Susan Connellan, Susan started off with a flying start, then Lesley bridged the gap for a time and in the concluding ends Susan increased the margin to win comfortably.
Joanne Kane and Debbie Farley traded shots for a good three quarters of the game, then Joanne pulled away to win in the concluding ends.
Susan and Joanne played for the title. Susan corrected well and produced some fantastic winning draw shots, taking the shot away from Joanne. Congratulations to both players. You both did your clubs proud. Susan edged ahead early and maintained that comfortable margin winning 25 - 11.
The zone playoff will be in August at a date to be organised.
Thanks to United and praise to the green keeper, Joe, for the presentation and the state of the greens. Superb.

On Sunday during the Champion of Champions for Pairs, all viewers were treated to some excellent bowling and very close exciting matches.

Three of the four Quarter finals games  were basically won on the last end. The semi finals again proved to be very close between the Knights from Ipswich and the pair from Jindalee.

The difference was one at the completion of the game. The game between Algester and Salisbury was a tussle from the start, with Algester prevailing.

On Tuesday the final game was a nail biter with both teams neck and neck and 16 all on the 18th end. Algester pulled off three shots on the 20th end to put them 2 ahead going into the last end. Jindalee  just failed to reach the winners of Pat Jamieson and Jenny Fleming who won 20-17.

Congratulations to both teams as it was a victory for both teams to play such good bowls.
United again need thanks for their work and thanks to  the umpire and the green keeper.
